Religious SchoolPreschool Through Grade 8 An integral part of the Glen Rock Jewish Center, our religious school provides a curriculum designed to nurture students with an appreciation and understanding of Jewish heritage and culture. The GRJC is fortunate to have dedicated and professional teachers guided by our outstanding and well-loved principal, Rachel Blumenstyk. Our school offers a comprehensive program with classes for preschool through grade eight. Preschoolers are encouraged to attend the Jewish Holiday Experience, which meets monthly and features stories, games, arts and crafts, and songs related to the various Jewish holidays. Children in kindergarten through grade two attend Sunday school for two hours weekly. Students in grades three through seven meet in classes for four hours a week and also attend synagogue services. Students in grade eight receive credit from the Religious School by attending the Bergen County High School for Jewish Studies in nearby Paramus, New Jersey. The Religious School curriculum includes instruction in Hebrew reading and writing, Jewish history, and participation in synagogue rituals and prayers. The school also offers music, library, field trips, and other special programs to enrich the overall educational experience. In keeping with our major goal of preparing our young people to become active members of the Congregation, the school sponsors Shabbatonim, in which each class is given an opportunity to lead either a Friday night or Saturday morning service. Participation in Saturday morning Junior Congregation is also encouraged. Parents are invited to become actively involved in their children's religious education through classroom visits, attendance at special programs, and through family workshops held during the school year. GoalsThe Glen Rock Jewish Center Religious School strives to create students who are life-long Jewish learners. Our goals are:
