Youth Groups

Our youth groups provide our youngsters with fun and positive social, religious, and educational experiences within the framework of Conservative Judaism. Frequently partnering with other local synagogues, these programs help to instill a love of our religion while laying the foundation for a life-long attachment to the Jewish community.

United Synagogue Youth

The United States of Conservative Judaism's affiliate for high school-age students, USY offers teens a wide range of exciting social and religious activities, and helps these young adults develop a strong sense of Jewish commitment.

Kadima

More than just the middle school version of USY, this program for sixth-, seventh- and eighth-graders is the future of USY. Students have similar social and leadership opportunities as USY, with meetings once or twice a month for activities and get-acquainted sessions with other teens.

El Al

Meeting one Sunday per month, this program organizes activities and get-togethers for fourth- and fifth-graders.

Bogrim (8th- and 9th-graders)

A Hebrew word loosely defined as "transition," "Bogrim" is geared to post-B'nai Mitzvah teens. Open to non-members, as well interested teens within the community, this monthly GRJC program has discussed film, hosted an evening of Israeli cooking, and hosted guest speakers.

Rabbi Tow is present at all meetings to inspire and inform. No homework or studying is involved. A fee to cover costs is required.

Madrichim (10th- through 12th-graders)

The GRJC's youth leadership program for 10th- to 12th-graders, Madrichim seeks to motivate teens along a path of sustained leadership and active participation in the Jewish community. With the help of Rabbi Tow and guest speakers, group members will learn to improve their teaching, coaching or organizing skills – all critical tools for future leaders of the Jewish community. There is no fee for this program.
